El Cortez Hotel & Casino

Overview: El Cortez is one of the most popular casinos in Las Vegas for seniors. They claim their slots are 40% looser than the casinos on the Strip, which seems accurate considering how often you win here. Many of those slot machines are actually the old-fashioned ones with the coins, giving El Cortez an old-school Vegas feel. It’s also very close to the other casinos in Downtown Las Vegas.

  • Location: East Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas
  • Average Price (weekday): $40
  • Average Price (weekend): $100
  • Easy accessibility: Yes
  • Senior discount: No

Accessibility: El Cortez is extremely accessible for anyone elderly. They have handicap-accessible rooms available with bathroom handles and a roll-in shower.

Senior discount: There’s no senior discount at El Cortez, however, the rooms are so cheap that it doesn’t really matter.

Mandalay Resort & Casino

Overview: Mandalay Bay is the most senior-friendly hotel on the Strip. It has a giant casino with plenty of slots, table games, and poker tables. Mandalay Bay is located at the end of the Strip, so it’s less busy than many of the other big casinos. The location is perfect since you won’t have to deal with long lines or people bumping into you.

  • Location: South end of the Strip
  • Average Price (weekday): $100
  • Average Price (weekend): $200
  • Easy accessibility: Yes
  • Senior discount: Yes

Accessibility: The aisles on the casino floor at Mandalay Bay are the widest in Las Vegas, making it easy to navigate. There are plenty of ramps and elevators throughout the property as well, so everything is wheelchair-friendly. Just know that it’s a large casino, so anyone with mobility issues may want to request a scooter.

Senior discount: Mandalay Bay offers a 5% senior discount to anyone over the age of 62. This discount works at all MGM Properties including the Mirage, Luxor, Vdara, Excalibur, New York-New York, Park MGM, Aria, MGM Grand, Delano and Bellagio (If you want to redeem the senior discount at one of these properties, just use the link above).

Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino

Overview: Paris is a gorgeous hotel located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. Many of the rooms have a great view of the Bellagio Fountains across the street. Paris has a bunch of slot machines and tables games, along with a sportsbook. The property also offers plenty of restaurants.

  • Location: Center of the Las Vegas Strip
  • Average Price (weekday): $75
  • Average Price (weekend): $200
  • Easy accessibility: Yes
  • Senior discount: Yes

Accessibility: Paris is very accessible, even if you have a scooter or wheelchair. There aren’t too many stairs, and there are wheelchair-accessible rooms available. The only negative is that the tables on the casino floor are really close together.

Senior discount: Guests over the age of 50 can get 30% off when booking a room at Paris Las Vegas. This discount also applies to the other Caesars properties as well including Caesars Palace, Bally’s, Rio, Planet Hollywood, Cromwell, LINQ, Flamingo and Harrah’s (If you want to redeem the senior discount at one of these properties, just use the link above).

Venetian Resort Las Vegas

Overview: If you’re in the mood to splurge on a 5-star resort, the Venetian is the place to do it. The Venetian is great for all ages, including seniors. Tips for Seniors Traveling to Las Vegas

As a senior visiting Las Vegas, there are a few important things you need to know before you book your vacation. Most importantly, you need to know that the Strip is generally more wheelchair and scooter friendly than Downtown Las Vegas.

If you have mobility issues, you’re going to want to stay on the Strip. The hotels on the Strip are simply more accessible, and many of them have scooters available for rent. Some of the Downtown hotels do have wheelchair accessibility however, it’s difficult to transport your wheelchair or scooter from one casino to another.

If you do choose to stay in Downtown Las Vegas, you’ll benefit from the lower required minimum bets on table games. Since you don’t have to bet as much, you can play for much longer.

Other Las Vegas Hotels with a Senior Discount

In addition to the hotels and casinos that I’ve already mentioned, there are a few others that offer senior discounts. Here are a few of the major ones:

  • Strat- 10% off if you’re at least 55 years old
  • Sahara Las Vegas – 10% off if you’re at least 55 years old
  • Best Western – Up to 15% off if you’re at least 55 years old
  • Circus Circus – 15% off if you’re at least 62 years old and prepay for your room
  • Downtown Grand – 10% off if you’re at least 55 years of age
  • Westgate – 10% off if you’re 50 years of age or older

  • All Caesars Properties – 30% off if you’re over the age of 50
  • All MGM Properties – 5% off if you’re over the age of 62

While these hotels do offer senior discounts, some of them aren’t very accessible for older folks. If you have mobility issues, I recommend you stick with the hotels I mentioned earlier in this article.
