There is no shortage of places to eat Mexican food in Las Vegas. The city has so many great Mexican restaurants that it can be overwhelming to decide where to eat.

That’s why I recently decided to try all the top Mexican restaurants in Vegas to see which ones are the best. Over the course of a month, I ate at every popular Mexican eatery on and off the Strip. After extensive testing, I’m sure these are the best Mexican restaurants in Las Vegas.

Best Las Vegas Mexican Restaurants

1. Casa Playa

Casa Playa is one of the newest Mexican restaurants in Las Vegas. This upscale restaurant serves authentic Mexican cuisine, like seafood platters, carnitas, American Wagyu tacos, and quesadillas.

The restaurant has an extensive dessert and beverage menu as well, which features custom cocktails produced by the hotel’s expert mixologist. You can find Casa Playa inside the Encore Hotel, on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip.

2. Javier’s Mexican Restaurant

Javier’s is one of the best Mexican restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip. It’s located inside the Aria Resort & Casino, and serves fresh dishes like tacos de camaron, salmon al sarten, and fajitas de pollo. If you like spicy foods, I encourage you to try the chile verde.

The atmosphere at Javier’s is spectacular, and so is the service. Although, the menu can get a bit pricey, but the food is worth every penny. Also, don’t forget to try the margaritas.

3. El Dorado Cantina

El Dorado Cantina is another top spot to grab Mexican food in Vegas. This Mexican restaurant has multiple locations throughout the city, but the one closest to the Strip is the most popular.

When you dine at El Dorado, your server will start you off with a basket of chips and salsa, which you can enjoy with their award-winning tableside guacamole. From there, you can order a number of Mexican dishes off the menu, including tacos, quesadillas, taquitos, burritos, enchiladas, and fajita platters. This is one of my favorite spots to eat in Vegas since all of the ingredients used are non-GMO and organic.

4. Canonita

Canonita is a Las Vegas Mexican restaurant found inside the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian. This restaurant makes a combination of grab-and-go and dine-in dishes, but everything is made from scratch.

Some of the menu items include chicharrones (fried pork), tacos, burritos, quesadillas, salmon, and chicken. You can also order a number of Mexican appetizers, salads, and desserts, along with drinks like tequila and margaritas.

  • Location: 3377 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV

5. Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina

Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina is one of the best Las Vegas Mexican restaurants located off the Strip. They have locations in Spring Valley and Henderson, so this is a popular local spot for Mexican food.

The restaurant serves flavorful fajitas and tortillas in large portion sizes, so you never leave hungry. You can order breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina.

  • Location: 9640 W Tropicana Ave, Las Vegas, NV

6. Tacos El Gordo

You’ll find some of the best tacos in Las Vegas at Tacos El Gordo. The restaurant makes authentic Tijuana tacos with handmade corn tortillas and high-end meats. But not only is the food good, so are the prices. This is one of the most affordable places to grab Mexican food in Las Vegas.

This restaurant has several locations throughout Vegas, but the one on the north end of the Strip is the most popular. That location is open until at least 2 am every night, so it’s a great spot to grab some late-night tacos on the Strip.

7. CHICA Las Vegas

CHICA is a popular Latin restaurant at The Venetian. This place serves signature dishes from a number of different Latin countries, including Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Peru, and Brazil. This is a great brunch spot, but they serve dinner as well.

Some of the dishes on the brunch menu include Baja breakfast burritos, tropical fruit plates, charred Poblano quesadillas, avocado toast, and strawberry guava waffles. If you eat here for dinner, I highly recommend you order the crispy tuna tacos.

10. Casa Don Juan

Casa Don Juan is one of the most highly-reviewed Mexican restaurants in Vegas. This family-owned restaurant uses original Mexican recipes to build authentic dishes. There are several Casa Don Juan locations throughout the city, but I prefer to eat at the one in downtown Las Vegas.

The service is quick, and the food is delicious. The menu is pretty large, so you can basically order any type of Mexican food that you can think of. In my opinion, the best dish on the menu is the burritos, but the nachos and cheese are a close second.

12. Milpa

Milpa is one of the Vegas Mexican restaurants located in Spring Valley, which is about a 15-minute drive from the Strip. The restaurant doesn’t look like much, but it serves both authentic and modern Mexican cuisines.

All of the dishes are made with fresh ingredients, including the tortillas which are made from scratch. If you decide to eat here, you must try their birria queso tacos and barbacoa bowl. Both are amazing. The Milpa grain bowl (which is made with roasted corn, beans, lentils, and quinoa) is tasty as well.

  • Location: 4226 S Durango Dr Ste 101, Las Vegas, NV

13. Las Cazuelas

Las Cazuelas is a local Mexican restaurant in Vegas, located near Henderson. They focus on creating food from the Mexican city of Puebla, which is near Mexico City. The restaurant is very simple, but the food is terrific.

El Luchador Mexican Kitchen & Cantina is a great place to grab Mexican food in the southwestern part of the city (they also have a second restaurant in Henderson). They serve some of the best Mexican chimichangas in Vegas, along with top-notch fajitas.

The service at El Luchador Mexican Kitchen & Cantina is always fast and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable for a local Mexican spot. If you stop by for a meal, make sure you try the grilled shrimp burrito.

The restaurant’s menu features a number of authentic Mexican favorites, including a list of signature tacos. They also serve mouth-watering Mexican appetizers, like fresh-made guacamole and nachos.

One of the best features of El Segundo Sol is that they have both indoor and outdoor seating (I recommend getting a table on the open-air patio). Chayo Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar is a great place to grab Mexican food on the Las Vegas Strip. This high-energy Mexican eatery is located inside the LINQ, and offers an upscale menu of Mexican foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This isn’t a traditional Mexican bistro, but more of a modern restaurant specifically designed for Vegas. Dining at Chayo Mexican Kitchen is always a ton of fun, especially considering they have a mechanical bull and a DJ inside the restaurant.

  • Location: 3545 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV

19. China Poblano by Jose Andres

China Poblano by Jose Andres offers a unique mix of Mexican and Chinese cuisines. The culinary team at this Cosmopolitan restaurant pulled off the impossible by combining foods from these very different cultures.

The first thing you notice when dining at China Poblano is that they don’t fuse the two food types, but rather offer both Chinese and Mexican options. I really enjoyed the menu, since it allows you to only order the foods you like. The restaurant is superb, I recommend you make a reservation here. You can put in orders for takeout as well, but not delivery.

  • Location: 3708 Las Vegas Blvd S Level 2, Las Vegas, NV

20. Senor Frog’s

It’s located on the Las Vegas Strip inside Treasure Island, and serves all of the classic Mexican dishes, like tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and taquitos. They also serve some American dishes like wings, burgers, and pasta.

The food here is solid, but the real draw of Senor Frog’s is the nightlife. This is one of the Las Vegas restaurants that also doubles as a popular bar. You’ll see tons of pictures from Senor Frogs shared on Instagram and Facebook.

This Mexican chain has several locations throughout the city, so you’re able to find Nacho Daddy both on the Strip and in downtown Las Vegas.

If you’re staying on the Strip you’re going to want to visit their restaurant inside the Miracle Mile Shops. Nacho Daddy has a surprisingly good breakfast menu, so I highly recommend you try their huevos ranchos.
