Many activities in Las Vegas require you to be at least 21 years of age. This includes drinking, gambling and oddly enough... booking a hotel room. I was surprised to hear that there was an age requirement to check into hotels in Las Vegas. So I did some research to find out whether this was true. As a general rule, most Las Vegas hotels require guests to be at least 21 years old to book a room. A small number of hotels will allow guests under the age of 21 to check-in, however they must be at least 18 years old and have a valid ID. A credit card in their name is also required upon check-in. There is a short list of hotels in Las Vegas that allow guests under the age of 21 to book a room. The list is even shorter if you want to stay on the Strip. Fortunately, I found a couple of quality Las Vegas resorts without these age restrictions. Here's the list... Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas The Waldorf Astoria is luxurious 5-star hotel located in the center of the Strip. It's within walking distance of the Shops at Crystals, the Miracle Mile Shops and the Bellagio Fountains. If money isn't an issue, the Waldorf Astoria is the best hotel to book if you're under 21. There are no age restrictions for booking, it's located in the center of the Strip and has outstanding service. Location: Center Strip Age Restriction: 18+ Average Price (weekday): $250 Average Price (weekend): $500 Rating: 4.5/5 stars Amenities here include: walk-in wardrobes, free Wi-Fi, refrigerator, minibar, spa, pool, fitness center and laundry service. There are also floor-to-ceiling windows in every room. The only downside to the Waldorf Astoria is the price. Weekend room rates often exceed $500/night. You'll get the best price by booking directly on the Waldorf Astoria website. However if you're looking for something more affordable, I recommend you check out the next hotel on the list. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvTHzlntDCg Tuscany Suites & Casino Tuscany is my favorite budget hotel in Las Vegas. Their prices are EXTREMELY COMPETETIVE compared to any hotel in Las Vegas. Which is crazy, considering that this is a fully equipped resort. The hotel can be found about a block and a half off the Strip, so it's still within walking distance for most people (about 10 minutes). But they also have free parking in their lot if you have a car. Location: Near the Strip Age Restriction: 18+ Average Price (weekday): $40 Average Price (weekend): $75 Rating: 4.3/5 stars Amenities hear include: in-room kitchen, free Wi-Fi, pool, spa, fitness center and self-serve laundry. The rooms at Tuscany are huge. The one I stayed at had a sofa and then 2-3 additional lounge chairs. I'm also a big fan of their diner, Marilyn's Cafe. They have some really good food for cheap, especially their breakfast. If you're looking for a quality hotel and don't want to spend too much money, I highly recommend you check out the Tuscany Suites. Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino The Westgate is an excellent hotel located about a block off of the Strip. It's situated on the north part of the Strip, so it's within walking distance from the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Wynn, Circus Circus, Resorts World and plenty of restaurants. Check-in Age: 18+ Location: 1 block off-strip Average Price (weekday): $120 Average Price (weekend): $220 Rating: 3.9/5 stars If you're visiting the other attractions on the Strip, the monorail conveniently stops directly at the Westgate. This will save you a ton of money on taxis/Ubers. To make sure you know where you're going, check out and download a map of the Las Vegas monorail here. Amenities at the Westgate include: outdoor pool, fitness center, spa, golf course, tennis courts, in-room refrigerators and free Wif-Fi. For all of the amenities available to you, the Westgate is reasonably priced. The rooms here do occasionally get expensive if there is a convention in town. To make sure you get the best rate, I recommend booking from the Westgate booking page. Westgate Las Vegas Marriott's Grand Chateau The Marriott's Grand Chateau is the closest hotel to the Strip that you can book, without actually being on it. It’s about a half block (1 minute walk) to the Strip, and allows guests under the age of 21 to book rooms. Location: Half a block off-Strip Age Restriction: 18+ Average Price (weekday): $150 Average Price (weekend): $300 Rating: 4.6/5 stars This is a high quality resort, but fairly priced for it's location on the Strip. Especially, when you consider that the Grand Chateau is one of the few hotels in Las Vegas that doesn't charge a resort fee. Resort fees are typically between $20-$40/day at most hotels. Amenities here include: free parking for guests, free Wi-Fi, rooftop pool, fitness center, laundry facilities and full kitchen. The best way to book a room is from Marriott. Golden Nugget Las Vegas Hotel & Casino The Golden Nugget is the only hotel on Fremont Street that you can book under the age of 21. Fortunately, the Golden Nugget is arguably the best hotel on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas. Resorts in Downtown Las Vegas are much less expensive than on the Strip. There is no other place in Las Vegas where you can consistently find 4-star hotel rooms for under $150/night during the week and under $200/night on the weekend. Location: Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas Age Restriction: 18+ Average Price (weekday): $140 Average Price (weekend): $180 Rating: 4.3/5 stars Amenities at the Golden Nugget include: pool, spa, fitness center and free Wi-Fi. One of the pools has a slide that goes through a shark tank. They also have tons shops and restaurants in the hotel. Golden Nugget Las Vegas Hilton Grand Vacations on the Las Vegas Strip The Hilton Grand Vacations is one of the most affordable hotels directly on the Las Vegas Strip. You can find this hotel right next to Circus Circus and Resorts World. This is a top-notch resort that doesn't disappoint. Amenities at the Hilton Grand Vacations include: pool, fitness center, basketball court, free Wi-Fi, laundry service and in-room kitchen. Location: North end of the Strip Age Restriction: 18+ Average Price (weekday): $130 Average Price (weekend): $180 Rating: 4.4/5 stars You can always find great deals at this hotel. If you're dead set on staying directly on the Las Vegas Strip but are on a budget, this is the place to stay. There are a couple of Hilton Grand Vacations in Las Vegas. This is the link for the location on the Strip. Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas The Four Seasons is a full-fledged 5-star resort. It's located on the south end of the Strip on the top 5 floors (floors 35-39) of Mandalay Bay. The Four Seasons doesn't have it's own building, but it has a separate entrance. As with any Four Seasons hotel, the Four Seasons in Las Vegas has top-of-the-line service and luxury. Everything from the rooms to the restaurants are exceptional. And because it's separate from Mandalay Bay, there are no age restrictions. Location: South end of the Strip Age Restriction: 18+ Average Price (weekday): $250 Average Price (weekend): $400 Rating: 4.7/5 stars Amenities at the Four Seasons include: great views in every room, refrigerator, minibar, spa, pool, fitness center, laundry service and free Wi-Fi. You also get access to the Mandalay Bay Pool complex with a wave pool and lazy river. You can learn more on the Four Seasons page. Hyatt Place Las Vegas Hyatt Place is good quality hotel with no age restrictions when it comes to booking rooms. This hotel is located 2 blocks off the Strip, but they offer a free shuttle service to and from the airport. The Hyatt is also one of the few hotels that still offers a free breakfast. That's a really big deal in Las Vegas, since food isn't cheap. Location: Near the Strip Age Restriction: 18+ Average Price (weekday): $150 Average Price (weekend): $200 Rating: 4.2/5 stars Amenities at the Hyatt include: free breakfast, laundry service, refrigerator, free Wi-Fi, pool, fitness center and free shuttles to and from the airport. Hyatt Place is an all round solid hotel with a good price. They'll help you save some money with their complimentary breakfast and airport shuttles. There are a couple different Hyatt's in Las Vegas. You're going to want to stay at the Paradise Road location. You can get the best rates from the Hyatt page. Elara by Hilton Grand Vacations Elara is a 52-story luxury tower located in the center of the Las Vegas Strip. It's within walking distance from the Bellagio Fountains, the Miracle Mile Shops, the Eiffel Tower, the Bellagio and the Cosmopolitan. This is a 4-star hotel, so it's not cheap. But you'll definitely get your money's worth if you take advantage of the extra amenities which include: in-room kitchen, extra bathroom, self-serve laundry, free Wi-Fi, fitness center, spa, pool and extra sofa bed. Location: Half a block off-Strip Age Restriction: 18+ Average Price (weekday): $160 Average Price (weekend): $400 Rating: 4.6/5 stars Elara can get a bit pricy if you're on a budget, but you will not be disappointed with your experience. If you're looking to really treat yourself to a Vegas vacation, I recommend you book a room at Elara. The best prices are found on Elara's booking page. Elara by Hilton Grand Vacations Las Vegas Hilton Grand Vacations at the Flamingo This Hilton Grand location is actually built on the same property as the Flamingo. When you stay here you get access to Flamingo Go Pool Complex, in addition to the Hiltons' amenities. The hotel is located in the center of the action, right across the street from Caesars Palace and the Forum Shops. Besides the Waldorf Astoria, the Hilton is the only hotel chain located directly on Las Vegas Boulevard that allows guests under the age of 21 to book a room. Location: Center Strip Age Restriction: 18+ Average Price (weekday): $150 Average Price (weekend): $250 Rating: 4.4/5 stars Amenities at this Hilton Grand Vacation location include: kitchen, spa, pool, fitness center, free Wi-Fi and self-serve laundry. The Hilton Grand Vacations at the Flamingo is similar to Elara (they're both run by Hilton). This location is just a 3-star hotel instead of a 4-star, making it a bit more affordable. They book rooms fast so make sure your dates are available on the Hilton page. Artisan Hotel Boutique Las Vegas The Artisan is a small boutique hotel found slightly north of the Las Vegas Strip. This hotel has a ton of cool art throughout the property and in each of the rooms. They also offer some ridiculously good prices. If you're looking to stay at a Vegas hotel with some character, this is unquestionably the place to stay. The art theme is unique to any hotel I've ever stayed at. Location: Near the Strip Age Restriction: 18+ Average Price (weekday): $60 Average Price (weekend): $100 Rating: 4/5 stars Amenities at the Artisan are pretty basic: free Wi-Fi, free parking, pool and fitness center. But they offer a great price and a unique experience. This is a small hotel, so rooms are limited. You can check for available dates on Artisan's page. Hampton Inn Tropicana The Hampton is anther quality hotel option that you can book under the age of 21. It's located about a block off of the south part of the Las Vegas Strip, near Mandalay Bay. The hotel is situated right next to both Allegiant Stadium and the T-Mobile Arena. So if you plan on seeing any professional sporting events (like the Golden Knights or the Raiders), the Hampton is a good choice. Location: Near the Strip Age Restriction: 18+ Average Price (weekday): $120 Average Price (weekend): $200 Rating: 4.3/5 stars Amenities at the Hampton include: free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, pool, fitness center, self-serve laundry and extra sofa bed. I like that they offer free breakfast and don't charge a resort fee, but I do have to mention that prices at the Hampton tend to fluctuate based on upcoming events. Weekday rates seem to be steady. But weekend rates can be as low as $170 one week, then skyrocket to $400 the next. Before you book, I would double check with the Hampton page to make sure that the prices are reasonable. Airbnb Just because you're in Las Vegas doesn't mean you're required to stay at a hotel. Airbnb is also an option! As long as you're at least 18 years old, there are no age requirements to use Airbnb. There are plenty of Airbnb's available in Las Vegas, both on and off the Strip. However, I typically find Airbnb to be just as expensive as staying at an actual hotel. In general, a hotel is going to offer more amenities for the same price, but it doesn't hurt to see if there are any deals available on Airbnb. Just be aware of the hidden cleaning and service fees. Frequently Asked Questions Can kids stay at a Las Vegas hotel? Most hotels in Las Vegas allow kids to stay as guests, as long as the adult checking in reaches the minimum age requirement. However, children under the age of 18 may not get full access to all hotel amenities. Most hotels charge extra for kids above a certain age.
